It is a 2021 American psychological thriller film directed by Guillermo del Toro and based on the 1946 novel Nightmare Alley by William Lindsay Gresham. It was released in the United States in 2021. After the 1947 film adaptation of Gresham's novel, this is the second film adaptation of Gresham's novel.

For the film's production, the studios Searchlight Pictures, TSG Entertainment, and Double Dare You Productions cooperated collaboratively. A charming and ambitious carnival worker with a mystery history is played by Bradley Cooper, who is willing to take great risks in order to generate more money for his company.

Toni Collette, Willem Dafoe, Richard Jenkins, Rooney Mara, and Ron Perlman are among the other actors that appear in the film. David Strathairn appears in the film as well. Del Toro unveiled the project in 2017, and he collaborated with J. Miles Dale and Cooper to bring it to completion. Dan Laustsen, a long-time partner, served as cinematographer, while Nathan Johnson, who had previously worked with Alexandre Desplat, served as composer in the film.

When the COVID-19 epidemic struck in March 2020, the shooting of the film was forced to come to an abrupt end. Production will resume in September 2020 and will be completed by the end of the year.

The premiere of "Nightmare Alley" took place on December 1, 2021, in Alice Tully Hall in New York City's Central Park. Searchlight Pictures is releasing it in the United States on December 17, 2021, according to their website. Starting on January 14, 2022, a black-and-white version of the film, titled Vision in Darkness and Light, was distributed in a limited number of places around the country. However, despite receiving mainly positive reviews from reviewers, the film failed to perform well at the box office. On a $60 million production budget, it made a total of $23 million in revenue across the world.

Is there a storyline behind The Nightmare Alley that you can tell me about?

After burying a body at his home in the Midwest, he decides to burn it down. Stan Carlisle is a participant at the carnival. As soon as the carnival's geek falls ill, Clem wants Stan's assistance. Based on temporary job and opium-laced vodka, he claims to be a target for alcoholics and drug addicts, which he supports with evidence. He torments them emotionally and physically until they succumb to their demons. Clem then instructs Stan on how to obtain the moonshine that he produces in order to manage the carnies. Also, it should not be used with his wood alcohol.

The episode in which 'Madame Zeena' and her alcoholic husband Pete are reunited. Cold reading and coded language are employed by Zeena and Pete in order to make her look intelligent. Stan is then given instructions by Pete. Stan and Zeena are adamant that it is against the law to play tricks on the dead. So that no one is offended, they always claim that it was a fabrication after the programme. Stan is drawn to her in the same way as Molly is. He devises a two-person act for the circus that will be performed by him and his partner.
